As the leader of the Finance team, you “Take Care of Banff”, by, ensuring tracking and reporting of the Town’s operating and capital budgets are transparent and aligned with regulatory requirements and the annual council-approved Financial Plan.

Your key responsibilities are to provide support and expertise in the areas of financial analysis and reporting, budget preparation and compliance with the municipal policies and procedures. You will lead an experienced team to deliver all financial functions from accounts payable and receivable to tax roll and payroll processing, to long-term capital asset management. You effectively balance the accuracy and integrity of the Town’s financial support systems with a high standard of solutions-based services.

Your previous work experience demonstrates your leadership, knowledge and abilities in: preparation and reporting of financial statements (including working papers for financial audits), management of operating and capital budgets and reporting, financial information systems within the Town resulting in financial competence among non-financial colleagues.

You lead colleagues in the importance of their roles in financial procedures and engage internal and external stakeholders in credit and financial inquiries. You thrive on the detail and structure of financial reporting and have a high level of competence in the use of a variety of software solutions used in tracking, analysing and reporting for budgets, grants and projects. Knowledge of processes and/or software solutions related to payroll, taxes, utilities and public sector would are an asset.

You have a post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics and a CPA designation (or nearing completion of a designation), followed by at least five years’ work experience in an accounting position with responsibility of departmental operations and performance management of reporting employees. You are considered an expert in Microsoft Excel, competent in Microsoft Office and can apply your abilities in financial software solutions. You blend leadership and teamwork to produce results, are confident speaking and responding in public forums and use experience and rationale in recommending and implementing practical solutions that create efficiency.
