Parking and Street Use Technologist(Competition 19-55)
Nanaimo City Council recognizes the incredible role and impact that transportation and proper planning have on our community. With this commitment, City Council is restructuring the Transportation Department and seeking dynamic, passionate and experienced professionals to join our team.
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Parking and Street Use Technologist. Under the general direction of the Manager of Transportation, the incumbent is responsible for administration of parking and street use permits within the City of Nanaimo. This position represents the City with respect to parking and street use plans and policies.
Applicants must have a diploma of technology from a recognized technical institute in Civil Engineering or related to civil engineering design, plus specialized courses in the traffic/transportation field. A minimum of 5 years’ related experience in urban transportation and parking management with demonstrated experience dealing with parking issues in an urban environment and delivery of a neighborhood level parking management strategy is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
A membership or eligibility for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia as an Applied Science Technologist or Certified Technician is required. Applicants must also possess a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
This is a unionized position. $40.38 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2019 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
