Active & Sustainable Transportation Coordinator(Competition 19-54)
Nanaimo City Council recognizes the incredible role and impact that transportation and proper planning have on our community. With this commitment, City Council is restructuring the Transportation Department and seeking dynamic, passionate and experienced professionals to join our team.
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Active & Sustainable Transportation Coordinator. Under the general direction of the Manager of Transportation, the incumbent is responsible for using a holistic approach to plan and market active and sustainable transportation throughout the City and will develop, coordinate and execute active and sustainable transportation education, marketing, planning and implementation initiatives. The Coordinator will liaise with stakeholders and community groups and will gather data to guide and support initiatives and plan capital investments.
Applicants must have a university degree in Engineering, Planning or a related field and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in Active and Sustainable Transportation Planning, Design, Implementation, and Education, with demonstrated experience in delivery of an active and sustainable transportation plan. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A membership or eligibility for membership in an applicable professional designation is required as well as a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.
This is a unionized position. $40.38 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2019 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. The ability to work varied hours as necessary to meet the requirements of the position is required. A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
