Join our team of professionals in the Engineering Operations Department.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated hard working individual to provide assistance and perform basic maintenance work including operating a variety of small equipment, trucks and related construction duties while, following operational and safety procedures.

This is manual maintenance and construction work of some variety and complexity, which requires the performance of skilled and semi-skilled tasks. The duties may involve hazardous working conditions, specialized skills, and the incumbent may be assigned to various supervisors.

A little bit about you:
 
  • Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and materials used in civil construction and Municipal Maintenance work;
  • Considerable skill in the proper and safe use of a variety of hand and power tools related to the work.
  • Considerable experience in civil construction and Municipal maintenance work.  Some training and knowledge in the operation of small power equipment such as saws and rollers;
  • Your education will include completion of Grade 10.  Some experience in construction and maintenance;
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Your key responsibilities are: 
  • Must have the ability to understand, carry-out and effectively communicate to fellow employees, oral and written instructions from a supervisor.
  • Ability to keep simple records of the work performed.
  • You must have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination and ability to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions You may also be required to work in the Waterworks and Roads division as a as needs basis.

Valid Class 5 Drivers License is required. A current Driver’s abstract must be uploaded with your application in order to be considered for these opportunities.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
