Closing Date:

The City of Maple Ridge is accepting applications for the full time position of Aquatics Programmer.  You will be leading a large group of staff in the delivery of exceptional swim programs both at the Leisure Centre and seasonally at the outdoor pool.  At times you’ll be on deck mentoring and supporting our staff team, in the water teaching and leading in-service training or in the filter room, conducting a pool reading. The Aquatic Programmer position is an administrative role, however in aquatics it’s not unusual to require ‘all hands on deck,” and the successful applicant must be a versatile team player.

This position is especially exciting as the successful candidate will have a key leadership role in recruitment and training of new lifeguard/instructors and the facilitation of new operating procedures in the re-opening of the newly renovated Leisure Centre.

Applicants must have substantial and preferably varied aquatics experience and have the following education and current certifications:
  • Completion of a post-secondary program in Recreation or related field at a recognized institution and sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Aquatics programming experience
  • National Lifeguard Pool Certificate
  • Lifesaving Instructor Certificate
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer Certificate OR
  • National Lifeguard Instructor Certificate
  • Standard First Aid
  • CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate
  • Pool Operator Level I Certificate
  • Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia.

The City offers a competitive salary, excellent benefits package, and supports continued career and professional development.
