West Vancouver Transit (Blue Bus) has an opening for a Permanent Full-time Truck and Transport Apprentice Mechanic.

The successful candidate for this position is required to have completed the following:
  • Heavy Mechanical Trades Foundation Program or have an equivalent amount of training and experience in the industry. 
  • A Class 5 Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement.

This is Truck and Transport mechanical work while working with a Journeyman mechanic, involving overhaul, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in the shop or in the field. The preferred candidate will possess basic skills, knowledge and fundamentals in the field of vehicle mechanical systems. This position involves shift work and possession of own hand tools is a must.   

During the assessment process, successful candidates will be required to submit an acceptable Driver’s Abstract and Claims History from ICBC. The successful candidate will be required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
Union (ATU)– Permanent Full-Time

Hours and Location of Work:
40 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary) 4 days on / 3 consecutive days off (consistent workweek and schedule). Shop is located at 221 Lloyd Ave., North Vancouver, BC.

Rate of Pay:
  • Apprentices begin at $26.31 per hour which is 70% of the journeyman rate
  • Plus $0.80 per hour tool allowance Plus: $1.65/hr shift differential for afternoon shifts and Sunday pay premiums.
  • Apprentices receive full pay while attending school in addition to the employer paying school tuition fees.
