Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)
The Council of the County of Vermilion River invites applications for the position of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). The CAO reports directly to Council and is responsible for the effective implementation of all operations of the County in accordance with provincial legislation and Council approved policies and programs. The position requires an individual who can identify, evaluate risks and maintain high levels of efficiency and productivity while developing policies and procedures and make decisions in a timely manner. The CAO manages the operating and capital budget, provides strategic direction and monitors contracts and legislation. Strong leadership skills, logical decision maker, a self-starter and managing office resources are skills required for this role.
The County of Vermilion River is located directly east of Edmonton, and has its east boundary against the Saskatchewan border. Urban municipalities within its boundaries include: Town of Vermilion; Village of Dewberry; Village of Kitscoty; Village of Marwayne; and Village of Paradise Valley. Hamlets/urban service areas within its boundaries include: Blackfoot; Clandonald; Islay; McLaughlin; Rivercourse; Streamstown; and Tulliby Lake. The County has a population of over 8,250 and offers all amenities that appeal to a wide variety of lifestyles, including: first class educational facilities; excellent health care facilities; and outstanding recreational facilities. The County Office is situated in Kitscoty which is about 23 kilometers from Lloydminster.

You have economic development (industrial) and gas utility experience and are a strategic thinker that is able to align organizational efforts to efficiently turn the goals identified in the County Strategic Plan into results. You demonstrate honesty and integrity and will instill these values in your team. You are an innovative leader who can motivate and inspire your team in working towards a common vision. You have a proven track record in building trust and confidence with elected officials and are able to provide concrete examples of how you achieved this. Your demeanour and attitude are reflective of a positive disposition and outlook. And you have a creative and innovative management style that has produced results and earned the respect of your fellow employees.
