Fire Secretary

Up to Two Regular Full Time Positions

The District of Saanich is seeking a Fire Secretary who will be responsible for accurately and efficiently performing a variety of secretarial tasks and duties in the Fire Department. This includes responding to enquiries from members in the Fire Department and the general public; maintaining and administering general office duties; composing routine reports and correspondence and organizing and maintaining a variety of electronic and manual records management systems.

Requirements include Grade 12, supplemented by one year post-secondary courses in business administration, including courses in or equivalent working knowledge of MS Office Suite, databases, email and internet applications; two years office experience performing responsible secretarial and clerical duties, including at least one year experience in a government environment; keyboarding speed of 55 wpm with the ability to edit correspondence; willingness to undertake training specific to the task area, general skills enhancement and computer software upgrading;, and a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s Licence.  The successful candidate(s) will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $30.33 per hour and an excellent benefits package.
