Mechanic IIThe District of Summerland has an exciting opportunity for a qualified Heavy-Duty Mechanic. Mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of a broad range of District vehicles and equipment including fire department vehicles, ice-resurfacers, dump trucks, loaders and a variety of other heavy to light duty and hybrid equipment. Knowledge of the techniques, tools, equipment and safety procedures pertaining to the maintenance of cars, trucks and heavy mobile equipment is required as well as knowledge of electric and acetylene welding techniques, tools and equipment.
The successful candidate will be a team player with a minimum 5 years’ experience. The applicant will be certified in the Province of BC Commercial Vehicle Inspection and possess a valid BC or Inter-Provincial Heavy-Duty Mechanic Ticket or equivalent as well as a Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement.
This is a CUPE (union) full time position and provides a competitive remuneration of $33.93-$35.71 per hour and a complete benefits package. Hours are based on a 40 hour work week.
