Permits Clerks

(Replacement Temporary Full-Time, Internal Posting)

The District of West Vancouver Permits & Inspections Department has an immediate opening for a skilled, motivated and service-focused individual to join our team as a replacement temporary full-time Permits Clerk for approximately 12 months. This position will be responsible for:

  • receiving, classifying and processing permit applications;
  • providing detailed and accurate information to the public pertaining to building/trade permit applications;
  • answering phones and emails and directing the public to appropriate District personnel;
  • maintaining files and records related to the work;
  • reviewing building permit application drawings and documentation for completeness; and,
  • performing other related duties as required.

The preferred candidate will possess: Excellent customer service skills and experience preferably in public sector environment. Extensive experience and/or training in computer, word processing and data base maintenance.  Sufficient physical strength to lift and maneuver large planning documents. The successful candidate has completed: Grade 12, supplemented by post-secondary courses/certificates in office administration.  Course work in building or engineering technologies, the ability to read architectural plans, knowledge of bylaws and regulations such as zoning, and/or building regulations, proficiency in Prospero Land or equivalent electronic permit tracking system and familiarity of building permits processes and construction terms/stages would be considered an asset. The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
WVMEA (Union) – Replacement Temporary Full-Time

Hours of Work:
35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Rate of Pay:
$27.43 to $32.26 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits
