Bylaw Enforcement Officer - Weeds & Insects


The Corporate Services Department has an opening for the full-time, seasonal position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer – Weeds & Insects.  Reporting to the Chief Bylaw Enforcement Officer, this position provides education to prevent, and enforcement to control noxious weeds and invasive insect infestations by responding to complaints and conducting site inspections.  This position is the primary contact for the public for all weeds and insect complaints within the Regional District of Central Okanagan boundaries. 

To be successful in this role, you must have completed the Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement & Investigative Skills Certificate Program Level I (or equivalent) and 2 years’ experience as a Bylaw Enforcement Officer.  You will be required to have thorough knowledge of the Noxious Weed Control Bylaw No. 179 and know what noxious weeds and invasive insects are problematic in the Central Okanagan. You must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills with a natural ability to resolve potential concerns in a professional, respectful manner.  This position requires a self-motivated, independent individual with excellent organization skills. Experience using Word, Excel, and Outlook is required and you must have a valid BC Drivers’ Licence with record of safe driving.

This is a full-time, seasonal position commencing in April with seasonal layoff at the end of October.  We offer a competitive salary of $30.72 and a full range of benefits. This position is a member of CUPE Local 338.
