This auxiliary position involves clerical work related to engineering and utilities information and is responsible for:
- Answering enquiries in response to requests from various municipal and public sources
- Issuing permits and fee collection
- Maintaining related records and assisting in related operations and office services
- Gathering records of utilities
- Plan checking of properties for sewer and water connections prior to finished road construction
Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 plus general office, record keeping and customer service experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some knowledge of elementary survey, drafting and engineering practices is required, along with proficiency in the use of MS Office and the ability to deal tactfully, courteously and effectively with internal and external clients. Familiarity with Burnaby infrastructure assets, the Hansen maintenance management system, POS System, Energov System, SAP Plant Maintenance module is desirable, along with experience reading plan and profile drawings and working with Burnaby Map. Ability to tactfully, courteously and effectively deal with the public and City staff in person and on the telephone.
Engineering Information Clerks must be available to work between 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday to Friday and occasionally up to 8:00 PM on Thursdays.
