The Environmental Compliance Coordinator performs a variety of tasks to ensure compliance with the City’s water and wastewater regulations, and the solid waste and recycling bylaw. This includes conducting periodic audits and inspections of industrial and commercial establishments, and residential curbside solid waste and recycling carts; identifying deficiencies and areas of non-compliance, developing public outreach and education programs and delivering the programs in coordination with the City’s communication team.  This position also liaises with the provincial regulators as needed to ensure the City’s compliance with provincial regulations and to identify areas of improvement.

Qualified candidates should have a Diploma in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or related field. A Degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or related field is preferred.  A minimum two years’ experience in work of similar nature of conducting environmental audits, public education and outreach, water and/or waste policies/procedures, experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair of municipal utilities. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License is also required.

This is a Union position (BCGEU) and the rate of pay is $41.96 per hour. Interested applicants are requested to send their resume AND covering letter to the undersigned prior to 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019.
