Salary $101,900.00 - $127,400.00 annually

The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR) has an exciting and challenging opportunity to serve as a Regional Executive Director for the North Area, in the Negotiations and Regional Operations Division. The Ministry is seeking an individual with excellent relationship building, problem solving and strategy development skills to join a great team and provide leadership. The position is integral to supporting the advancement of reconciliation initiatives such as the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and to working closely with Natural Resource Sector and Social agencies across the North Area to coordinate mutual efforts with Indigenous Peoples.  

The Regional Executive Director is responsible for the operations of three north regional offices, and serves as a key contact for industry proponents, local governments, stakeholders, and community organizations. The Regional Executive Director provides strategic direction in the planning, delivery, and monitoring of MIRR programs and services, supporting the advancement of provincial goals with Indigenous communities. The position leads and directs the delivery of a wide range of advisory support services to government agencies and Crown Corporations who are seeking to also advance relationship and partnership building with Indigenous Peoples in the North Area.

Qualifications for this role include:
  • University degree, preferably at the master’s level, in law, public administration or a resource development and management field or other related disciplines and at least three (3) years related experience, or an equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years recent, related experience leading complex, multi-party negotiations with Indigenous Peoples and/or the federal government; or comparable recent negotiation experience leading bi‑lateral, tripartite and multi-party negotiations in matters of similar profile and significance.
  • Significant experience in problem solving, strategy development and conflict resolution.
  • Experience leading, planning, coordinating and managing complex projects and work assignments; experience in strategic planning, goal setting, resource allocation and developing performance measurement; experience related to economic agreements, fiscal arrangements and/or cost-sharing; experience with program management techniques and practices; and recent experience leading a team of professionals in a supervisory capacity.
