The City of Coquitlam currently has an exciting opportunity for a Telecommunications Supervisor to oversee the Operational Communications Centre in the Coquitlam RCMP detachment. This position is responsible for the supervision, training, recruitment and performance of a large group of staff delivering support services to the policing services within our community.
Reporting to the Civilian Police Services & Finance Manager, this regular full-time position provides direction and guidance to team members, conduct training sessions, manage change related to works methods and standards as needed. You will also be able to roll your sleeves up and assist with Telecommunications work as needed. This includes: operating police communications equipment to determine call priority, responding to 911 emergency/non-emergency calls, controlling the deployment and dispatch of police in response to calls for service. Accuracy and time management skills are essential in being successful in this role.
You have a high school diploma supplemented with computer courses relevant to this role. Supervisory and dispatching experience is considered essential. Poised and tactful in stressful situations, you possess sound judgment as well as excellent listening, communication and decision-making skills. The successful candidate must obtain and maintain an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance.
