Come join our Engineering team in this exciting full time position of Engineering Technologist 1 (Traffic) position.
This position includes technical, administrative and field work to provide Transportation/Traffic Engineering solutions for the City’s growing infrastructure.

You will assist in developing conceptual designs for the City’s Complete Street Corridors, including solutions for cyclists and pedestrian facilities.

You will be conducting and reviewing a wide variety of traffic studies including Traffic Impact Assessments submitted by traffic engineering consultants, Traffic Calming Solutions, Signal and Crosswalk Warrant analysis and providing excellent customer service responses to requests from our residents.

Traffic modeling experience using software such as Synchro/Simtraffic, Sidra would be considered an asset.

Ability to perform conceptual/preliminary design exercises using Civil 3D software is preferred.

You will research, develop, schedule and administer specific Municipal programs and projects, prepares cost estimates for infrastructure Projects and assists in compiling the annual and long-range program budgets, prepares technical reports and recommendations on Capital Projects and other technical matters, prepares preliminary design. You will prepare Request for Proposals, evaluate proposals, assist with consultant selection, and administers the contract with the successful engineering consultant.

You will exercise considerable independent judgement and action referring difficult or unusual problems to a superior who reviews work performance in terms of conformance with engineering adequacy and conformance with departmental procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma from an Institute of Technology in an appropriate discipline (Civil and/or Electrical/Electronics plus sound related Municipal engineering experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of British Columbia.   Have a valid class 5 B.C. Drivers License and clean driver’s abstract is required.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required a part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
