We are looking for an exceptional person to join our Engineering Department in the role of Engineering Technologist – Projects.  Reporting to the Manager of Capital Projects, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the City's capital construction program, which involves: project management and coordination, design review, cost estimating, contract preparation and review, and tendering and inspection of construction works in various facets of civil engineering.  Projects are primarily focused on municipal water, sewer, drainage and transportation design and construction; however, some assignments will involve other capacities of engineering such as asset management, engineering planning and data collection.  The position further involves responding to public queries, calls for service and complaints as well as responding to and establishing effective relationships with contractors, consultants and other internal and external contacts.
                                                                   
What you bring:
  • Graduation from an Institute of Technology with a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, supplemented by other related courses (Certified Contract Administrator is an asset)
  • Three years of design and construction experience in municipal engineering in areas such as roads, drainage, sanitary sewer, water and pump stations
  • Registration or eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (ASTT) of B.C. as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT)
  • Familiarity with CAD and modelling software as well as GIS mapping and asset reporting considered advantageous
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing with staff, contractors, consultants and the public
