The West Vancouver Community Services Department is currently seeking a permanent full-time Program Coordinator for Seniors’ Outreach programs and services. As part of a dynamic and committed staff team, the Program Coordinator for Seniors’ Outreach is responsible for programs offered through the Seniors’ Activity Centre targeted at frail and isolated seniors with an emphasis on “Keeping Connected” programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • scheduling and arranging activities
  • supervising and providing guidance to volunteers and instructors
  • facilitating outreach to and direct contact with frail and isolated seniors and their caregivers/support
  • providing ongoing assessments of participants in programs
  • networking with community groups and task forces on geriatric issues
  • promotion for events and activities
  • communicating and working with local health authority to assist with placement and monitoring of participants, and
  • performing other related duties as required

The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator with a passion for working with seniors. He or she will have experience in coordinating and supervising program leaders and volunteers, developing relationships and working with community partners. In addition, an extensive knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of community recreation programs related to frail and isolated seniors, program planning and implementation and aging and disease processes is essential. Desirable qualifications include a University Degree in Recreation and/or Gerontology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, a Class 4 Driver’s Licence and at least 2 years’ experience working with elderly populations.

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work:
37.5 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Rate of Pay:
$30.37 to $35.77 per hour (2018 Rates)
