Under the general direction of the Head of Human Resources, the Manager, Human Resources provides operational leadership of the Client Services team to deliver programs and services that enable the City to achieve business outcomes in alignment with its strategic and operational plans. The Manager is responsible for the provision of services in the following areas: recruitment and staffing, employee and labour relations, performance and attendance management, and classification and compensation programs. The Manager, Human Resources supports and provides HR services and guidance to the exempt management group and employees who are represented by four unions: the Canadian Union of Public Employees, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, United Brother of Carpenters and Joiners of America, and the International Association of Fire Fighters.

The next Manager, Human Resources will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources and a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, and five to seven (5-7) years of successful human resources operational and leadership experience gained from complex, multi-union organizations. The successful candidate will enjoy mentoring and developing employees, have exemplary communication skills, and be a consummate team player. This individual will be a highly professional, natural leader and relationship-builder committed to fostering a culture of collaborative engagement across stakeholders. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
