The role
The purpose of this position is provide Human Resources strategic and transactional expertise, support, advice and guidance to all departments and employees of the City in all areas of Human Resources including full cycle recruitment and onboarding, benefits and pension administration, employee engagement and wellness, employer service, employee and labour relations, collective agreement administration, disability and attendance management, performance management and professional development, job classification and compensation administration, policy and procedure development, and perform research.  This position advises, coaches and works collaboratively with organizational leaders and employees to drive performance, productivity and engagement while proactively minimizing conflict and deploying best practices in Human Resources. This position also contributes to development and maintenance of organizational culture and influences behavioral change through motivation, communication and interpersonal influence; an understanding of personality, motivation and ability to flex personal communication style is required. This position has an administrative and technical leader impact across the organization and on the success of human resources programs.

The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Psychology, Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources, and/or other related education; experience in a Human Resources Generalist role including experience in recruitment, group benefits and pension, disability management, labour and employee relations in a unionized environment, wellness and recognition, collective agreement administration or an equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable to the City. The Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) Designation or willingness to obtain the same is considered an asset.
