We are seeking a dynamic individual with exceptional leadership skills and financial acumen for our Deputy Director, Finance role.
You will be responsible for coordinating the financial planning, payroll and tax and utility revenue activities for the City. This includes overseeing the development and preparation of the budget, reviewing and approving the budget calendar, attending internal and external budget meetings and reviewing the operating departmental budget submissions. You will review budget adjustments throughout the year and provide recommendations for revised budgets. You will also supervise the tax and utility rate setting, invoicing and collection functions of the City. Other responsibilities include reviewing reports and recommendations for Council, reviewing requests and interpret agreements with City wholly-owned and shared-cost agencies, participating on inter-departmental task forces and internal city committees, reviewing current financial policies, developing new policies and acting as the Director of Finance during absences.
You will possess a Bachelor’s degree in financial management along with a recognized accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) and a minimum of seven years of related financial management experience, preferably in municipal government. We are seeking applicants with proven leadership and management skills, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. A sound understanding of public administrative practices is desired. A valid Class 5 Driver’s license is required for this position.
