Salary for Legal Counsel Level 2:$121,030.00 - $156,960.00 annually (years of call 6-11)
Salary for Legal Counsel Level 3:$161,625.00 - $185,603.00 annually (years of call 12-18 and greater)
Under the Public Service Labour Relations Act, this position is excluded from union membership.
Deliver professional legal advice and assist as a legal advisor with the Ministry of Attorney General
The Attorney General is the legal advisor to the government of British Columbia and is charged with ensuring that the administration of public affairs is carried out in accordance with the law. Legal Services Branch (LSB) supports the Attorney General in fulfilling this mandate by serving as legal advisor to government in civil law matters. LSB provides legal advice to government and ensures that legal risks associated with government operations are reduced. LSB’s clients include all ministries of the government, Cabinet and certain public agencies.
The Finance, Commercial and Transportation Group (FCT) is seeking expressions of interest for one full-time, permanent position to provide legal advice and services to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure ("MoTI") and the BC Transportation Financing Authority ("BCTFA"). This position will support MoTI’s ongoing mandate, with a focus on highway and transportation operations and public infrastructure projects. These projects typically involve high-profile government commitments and private-sector involvement (planning and financing) on accelerated time lines.
Qualifications for this role include:
- Must be a member of the Law Society of British Columbia in good standing OR immediately eligible for call to the Bar.
- Legal Counsel Level 2: From 6th to 11th year of call.
- Legal Counsel Level 3: More than 12 years of call.
