Treaty Table Manager

The Te’mexw Treaty Association is hiring for the regular full time position of Treaty Table Manager in Victoria BC. 

Job Summary
The Treaty Table Manager contributes to the overall success of the organization by effectively coordinating work-plans and building strong working relationships in accordance with the vision, objectives and mission of the organization under the direction of the Managing Director.

This position ensures proper records are kept, provides technical support for negotiations, and oversees professional development and treaty education.

The Treaty Table Manager works closely with the communications coordinator, other managers, negotiators, and consultants while maintaining a relationship with relevant stakeholders.   The Treaty Table Manager is responsible for all areas of Treaty-Related projects, budgets and strategic plans and will attend meetings and produce reports regularly.

Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have professional experience working for a First Nation organization engaged in Treaty negotiations.  The candidate must have knowledge and familiarity of the BC Treaty Commission and Provincial and Federal Government processes.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you:

  • have an understanding of Indigenous culture
  • are a skilled organizer with a proven ability to coordinate meetings
  • can manage priorities and meet all deadlines

Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in public administration, indigenous governance, or a related field.  A combination of equivalent experience, education and training would be considered.

Due to the nature of this position the incumbent must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and be willing and able to attend meetings during the day, evening and weekends as necessary.  The employee must abide by strict confidentiality agreements and remain in compliance with all policies of the Te’Mexw Treaty Association.
