Recreation Programmer I
Three Positions: Regular Full-Time, Regular Part-Time and Auxiliary (Job Share)
The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. The Commission offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages. We are currently accepting applications for one regular full-time (35 hours/week); one regular part-time (21 hours/week); and one auxiliary Recreation Programmer I (14 hours/week to participate in a job share for one year with the potential for renewal).
Under the direction of a Facility and Program Supervisor, you will assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of community-based recreation, social and cultural programs. You may also have responsibility for the planning and implementation of smaller programs under guidance. You will participate in recruiting, training and evaluating instructors and volunteers; promote interest and participation in programs; provide customer service to patrons and the public; and prepare and maintain records and reports.
Sound knowledge of community recreation principles, practices, interests and resources; working knowledge of indoor/outdoor sports, fitness, health & wellness, social activities, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to our programs; the ability to plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and recommend changes to programs; the ability to recruit, train and evaluate instructors and volunteers; and the ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses on track to obtaining a Recreation certificate, diploma or degree, plus related experience.
A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for Commission business.
All employees should be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Record Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
