Working closely with the RCMP, this is clerical and custodial work of some complexity performed in the Burnaby Detachment equipment room. An incumbent of this class tracks, receives, issues and stores a variety of weapons and police equipment; ensures equipment is in working order; conducts minor repairs on equipment; maintains an adequate level of equipment and supplies; identifies equipment and supplies to be ordered; prepares equipment kits for members and prepares and maintains records, files and reports. An incumbent exercises independence of judgement and action within established guidelines, and provides information and assistance to auxiliary staff. The work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed by a superior in terms of conformance to standard procedures and standards. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include high school graduation supplemented by related courses, plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the various types and use of weapons and police equipment required by RCMP members, and of the safety regulations for the same. Ability to use spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software to access and/or create spreadsheets and maintain statistics and related data; to work under minimal supervision, to exercise sound judgement in accordance with applicable rules, regulation; and policies; to multi-task and to perform effectively during peak periods; and to lift and carry heavy equipment and items. A Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) is desirable for this position. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia and the ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance are required.
