The Building Inspector I plans, coordinates and performs plan checks and inspections of a technical nature. Administers a variety of Provincial and municipal bylaws and regulations including, but not limited to, the Business License Bylaw, the Zoning Bylaw and the Building Bylaw. Other tasks will include reviewing plans and applications for construction, repair and alteration of buildings and plumbing for conformance with regulations, issuing building and plumbing permits, inspecting works in progress and checks for zoning compliance, answering inquiries relating to building matters, and other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates should have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, BC Building Inspectors Level I Certification, some knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices and methods as applicable to building construction, knowledge of applicable City policies, laws and regulations, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License. Candidates should also be physically capable of moving about on construction sites.
This is a Union position (BCGEU) and the rate of pay is $43.27 per hour. Interested applicants are requested to send their resume AND covering letter to the undersigned prior to 4:00 p.m., Monday, November 21, 2018.
