Come join one of BC’s Top 100 Employers! The City of Coquitlam is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Senior Accountant to join our team of professionals in the Finance & Technology Department, Financial Services Division.

Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, your primary responsibilities include but are not limited to supervising and leading the operations of a finance section and assisting in the development and implementation of city-wide financial information and management reporting systems.  You would prepare or review a variety of financial statements, management reports and analyses, supervise and coordinate the work of staff engaged in accounting and related duties, and provide advice and assistance to departments on financial variances, accounting procedures, systems, processes, and controls.  You will lead the City’s year-end audit process, and development of the Annual Report and Statement of Financial Information.

The ideal candidate will exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative, have a philosophy based on continuous improvement, be able to manage multiple competing demands, build and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively in a team setting.  Strong leadership skills and experience are also essential. These attributes will be matched with successful completion of a recognized professional accounting program and a minimum of 5-7 years’ of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a public sector setting.  CPA designation is required.

In addition to a CUPE hourly rate of $40.48 - $47.82, the city offers a comprehensive benefits package and an earned day off program.  Applicants under consideration may be required to consent to a Police Information Check.
