The West Vancouver Memorial Library has immediate openings for casual Library Assistant II positions. These important team members perform a variety of clerical and public service functions in the Account Services Department.
Responsibilities for these positions include: • assisting the public with registration, information, and check-in and check-out of materials • assisting with special projects and ongoing assignments involving patron registration, entering and updating records, and other functions of the automated system • processing held and overdue items, and • other related duties as required
Candidates must be available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends. Successful candidates will also possess: completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent), excellent customer service skills, strong computer skills and a positive orientation towards technology, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, the ability to deal tactfully, courteously and effectively with people of all ages and other employees, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills. Candidates must have strong knowledge of business English. Additional language skills would be considered an asset.
Candidates who are able to work on short notice, and have previous experience working in a busy public library setting are preferred. This is an on-call position so there are no guaranteed hours and shift lengths vary.
The successful candidates will be required to supply a criminal record check.
