The District of West Vancouver (the District) is one of three municipalities that make up the North Shore, and is a member of Metro Vancouver, the governing body of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Reporting to the Manager of Utilities, the Utilities Engineer oversees and facilitates the planning, design, construction, and project management of municipal infrastructure projects and services. The Utilities Engineer is responsible for the provision of various functions related to Utilities Management (potable water, sanitary sewage, and storm drainage) through direct involvement and the supervision of a technical team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate progressively responsible experience with municipal utilities, environmental concerns and land use practices. The candidate will have excellent management and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop the effective working relationships required to optimize resources and support District priorities.
The candidate will possess a degree in Civil Engineering and several years’ experience related to municipal engineering within the provision of utilities. The candidate will be a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC and have a valid driver’s license for the Province of British Columbia. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
