Manager of Engineering Planning & Design 

Are you interested in an exciting management opportunity where you ensure that infrastructure development meets the current and future needs of a growing community?

The District of Mission is looking for a progressive, innovative, high-quality results-oriented individual with keen critical thinking ability and analytical and problem solving skills to join our Engineering & Public Works Development.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Public Works, you will be responsible for preparing engineering and public works infrastructure development plans, forecasting needs and upgrading design models; managing project upgrades, changes and budgets; determining and managing costing requirements and budgeting for future infrastructure development. The Manager of Engineering Planning & Design also maintains an effective geographical information system (GIS) and manages GIS staff.

You will possess an open, team-oriented leadership style which promotes continuous improvements in organizational efficiency. You understand local government objectives and issues, are proactive and forward thinking, and have excellent interpersonal skills. A distinguished customer service record and the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including Council, are essential for this position, as is having a high degree of integrity due to exposure to highly confidential and/or politically sensitive information.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a post-secondary degree from an accredited university with a major in Civil Engineering or a related field. Registration as a professional engineer in British Columbia is required. You will also have training and experience in project management, asset management, hydraulic modeling and leadership training and a minimum of five years of progressive management experience.

This position is excluded from the bargaining units and offers a wage rate commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
