Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and a key management team member, the City Engineer supports the ongoing growth of the city. This position is responsible for providing engineering design services and advice to the CAO and Council on a broad range of technical subjects pertaining to development and infrastructure of the community.
Ideally, you will be a Professional Engineer or Engineering Technologist coupled with 3 to 5 years in a senior leadership role in water, sewer, roads, systems, and infrastructure design construction, operations and maintenance within the municipal sector. Alternatively, you may have many years experience working within a consulting engineering firm whose client base was municipal. You are a big picture leader, practical problem solver, deal effectively with competing priorities and are well respected for your ability to work well under pressure. You are an experienced strategic leader known for your ability to execute and deliver results. You have experience working with diverse teams in a unionized environment and are well respected for your professionalism, commitment and passion in your leadership role. You see yourself as accountable and known for setting work objectives that are aggressive yet realistic. Your public speaking abilities and impeccable people and communication skills are your trademark and you deal effectively with all levels of clients both internal and external, staff and Council.
