The City of Coquitlam has an opening for an Arena Maintenance Supervisor in the Strategic Initiatives Department. Reporting to the Facilities Management Coordinator, the Arena Maintenance Supervisor will have responsibilities that will include supervising operational and technical work performed in an ice arena with more than one ice surface.  An incumbent of this class supervises and participates in the work of subordinates engaged in refrigeration/ice making, Facilities/equipment maintenance, janitorial and security tasks.  An incumbent of this class also coordinates and schedules ice making, Facilities/equipment maintenance, janitorial services, establishes and maintains preventive maintenance programs, monitors expenditures and advises a superior of potential cost over-runs, and prepares and authorizes purchase requisitions within defined limits.  Working under minimal supervision, the successful candidate will exercise considerable independence of judgement and action in the planning of day-to-day operations of the arena.  Work performance is reviewed by a superior in terms of effectiveness and efficiency of services provided and attainment of desired results.

The ideal candidate should have completion of Grade 12 supplemented by completion of technical courses related to the work, plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A 5th Class Power Engineering Provincial Certification, Propane Handler’s Ticket, First Aid Certificate and a B.C. Driver’s License is also required.
