The City of Burnaby is actively recruiting for on-call Auxiliary Level II First Aid Attendants to join our team. The position will administer first aid in the field and or first aid room as required at certain Works Yard Facilities.
Some of the duties of the Level II first aid attendants will include manual, technical and clerical work assisting in the provision of an Occupational Health and Safety program for the Engineering and Parks Operations. Other duties will include assisting the Safety Officer in the identification of training needs under certain guidelines; administering first aid in the field or first aid room as required; monitoring first aid room inventory and supplies according to required WorkSafeBC standards; preparing and maintaining records, reports and statistics using MS Word, Excel and SAP. The First Aid Attendants will also monitor accident/incident information and participate in identifying the need for additional precautionary measures; receive and distribute confidential information related to first aid injury reports; liaise with departments regarding monthly crewtalks, accident investigations follow up, modified work duties, return to work program, types of products being used and ensure that training information is kept up to date. Other duties include monitoring gas detectors and FIT testing program including sign-in-out tools and small equipment to staff; participating in manual inventory counts, filing and data entry.
The ideal candidate will have strong first aid skills, communication and independent decision making skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to be a supportive team member. Having proficient knowledge of general MS-Office software is an asset. Ability and willingness to work on-call with flexible availability Monday to Friday from 07:00 to15:30 is required.
The following licences and current certifications are required:
- Occupational First Aid Level 2
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License
