We have an exciting opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Assistant in our Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) Department.

We are looking for a candidate that is:
  • Innovative
  • Creative
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have the skill to research and deliver offerings that have value for customers, clients, and partners.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed grade 12 supplemented by a certificate in graphic design plus sound related experience, preferably with some experience in graphic design or web design, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Your key responsibilities are:
This position is responsible for Marketing and Communications work involving drafting and editing materials for a variety of marketing activities. Graphic design and/or oversee the development of promotional materials such as brochures, newsletters, program guides, website pages, schedules, templates and more using desktop publishing software. Considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in the creative and editing aspects of the work, which is subject to final review by a superior.

You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the PRC website; post updates to existing content; databases and lists.

Recommend ways to further market PRC programs and services via website and social media. Develop and implement social media campaigns subject to approval by a supervisor.

Compiles, designs, condenses and prepares consistent presentation of program descriptions for review and editing. Participates in various committees and meetings for the promotion of PRC programs.

Ability to produce written copy for a variety of uses and purposes and to edit rough drafts to produce effective written copy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Information Check as a condition of employment. (Note – not required as part of the application process; however, will be required upon consideration for employment)
