The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an opening for a permanent full-time aquatic leader III. Reporting to the aquatics program coordinator, this position provides leadership to aquatic staff and assists with administration duties and program planning and delivery.
This position is responsible for;
• supervising, developing aquatic staff and facilitating staff training;
• assisting with developing, organizing, and coordinating programs and special events;
• supervising lessons and coordinating birthday party/slide attendant schedules;
• providing administrative assistance and handling customer service inquiries; and,
• assuming responsibility for facility operations as required.
The successful candidate will have: completion of a 2 year diploma or degree in Recreation or a related field supplemented by aquatic courses; a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard and swimming instructor; swimming pool operation, administration and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Microsoft Office Suite and Activenet registration system knowledge would be considered an asset.
The successful candidate must have: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor; National Lifeguard (NL) Pool Option; NL Waterpark; CPR Level C & AED; and Aquatic Emergency Care or Standard First Aid and a current Lifesaving Instructor Award (LSI).
The successful candidate is required to obtain the following certifications within the first 3 months of employment: BCRPA Aquatic Fitness Module; and Instructor Trainer Certification; Pool Operators I and Occupational First Aid Level 2.
The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.
