Overview
The District of North Vancouver is currently looking for a talented Applications Developer to join our team for 12 months. In this position you will have the opportunity to apply design and technology to improve award-winning applications and build clean, clear, customer-facing interfaces and experiences.

You will be a front-end developer who will help a small team develop custom web applications and system integrations. You will define design and user experience standards and build design libraries to support complex web apps, translate designs into functional user interfaces, leverage web services, and develop best practices. You will exercise considerable independent judgement and action within established guidelines.

You will have a passion for learning, strong communication skills, and a desire to apply technology and design to solve complex problems.

Required Skills
  • Experience with UI and UX design and implementation
  • Experience with framework-based front-end development (Angular, React, Elm)
  • Experience with reactive design patterns (RxJS, NgRx, Redux)
  • Mastery of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with CSS pre-processors (SCSS, LESS)
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Ability to translate wireframes, mockups, and requirements into fully-functional user interfaces
  • Experience working on highly available, scalable, and extensible web applications

Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Angular 5+ and TypeScript
  • Experience with Bootstrap
  • Experience in an agile development environment and familiarity with related methodologies
  • Understanding of object oriented concepts and MVC frameworks
  • Experience with Leaflet

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have completed a degree in Computer Science or a Technology Diploma with 3+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The pay for this unionized position ranges between $38.78 and $45.83 per hour based on a 35 hour work week. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package and a compressed work week.
