Reporting to the Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development, the Director is responsible for leading the activities of the Economic and Development and Tourism Division. With a team of 13 in the portfolios of Investment Attraction, Marketing and Strategic Partnerships, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and Tourism, the Director champions Durham successes and increases awareness of the opportunities awaiting new residents and industry investors. The Director plans, develops and implements strategies, campaigns and special events that celebrate the Region’s diversity and dynamism. Acting as an advisor and information resource to internal and external stakeholders, the Director encourages partnerships and development opportunities. The Director guides and mentors the team, ensures solid fiscal stewardship of the division, and is a liaison with all levels of government, business, and community groups.

With your degree and Ec.D. designation, you possess more than 10 years of experience in a management capacity leading economic development and marketing campaigns. You are well versed in tourism practices and demonstrate knowledge and understanding of real estate and land use planning principles.
