As a member of the Management Team for Nelson Hydro, the Line Manager will play a key role in the coordination of the line crew activities and strategic direction of Nelson Hydro. Reporting to the General Manager, the Line Manager is responsible for the overall planning, operation, maintenance and safety of the Nelson Hydro transmission and distribution system. The Manager will demonstrate leadership skills that will assist the Department in achieving safe, efficient utilization of crews and equipment and will be responsible for all aspects of the job including ongoing employee evaluations, training plans, hiring and disciplinary action as required. This in turn will assist Nelson Hydro and the City of Nelson to provide our community with the exemplary service and help us to become the number one municipality in Canada based on Value for Service!
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 graduation or GED (general equivalency diploma)
- Power Line Technician – Red Seal or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, including Professional Designation
- Five years recent related experience in a supervisory capacity
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with employees and the public in a tactful and courteous manner
- Excellent problem solving and technical skills.
- Proven ability to lead, manage and develop people and to build collaborative relationships.
