Animal Control Officer
We are seeking an experienced Animal Control Officer to join our Bylaw and Animal Control team. This position is responsible for field and administrative work to enforce the Animal Control Bylaw. In addition to assisting the Animal Control Shelter Coordinator with the daily operation of the Municipal Pound, the Animal Control Officer assists the Bylaw Enforcement Officer with enforcing other bylaws as necessary and as directed.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in bylaw enforcement as well as possess a minimum of three years experience working closely with animals in an institutional setting. Thorough knowledge of the District’s Animal Control Bylaw and other related legislation and regulations will be a must, in addition to knowledge of court and adjudication procedures, rules of evidence and investigational techniques.
As well, the following certificates are required:
- Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program Level 1 & 2 – JIBC
- Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program Level 1 and Animal Control Basic Training Certificate Langara College.

Compensation: This is a full-time, permanent position - 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $29.31 as well as a full range of benefits. 2019 hourly rate: $29.89
