The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for the Arena Foreman position in the Community Services (Parks and Recreation) department. Under the direction of the Parks and Facilities Manager or designate, the Arena Foreman is responsible for the overall general supervision of the operation and care of the City’s arena facilities. The successful applicant will work 5 days a week, primarily TuesdaySaturday and will be available to work some evenings and weekends as required. During off season at the arenas, the Arena Foreman will work Monday- Friday.
Prerequisites for the position include valid Class 5 Driver's Licence; Ice Facility Operator Certification; Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of an arena; minimum 2 years supervisory experience in the operation and maintenance of an arena; Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification; considerable knowledge of equipment, tools, practices, materials and methods related to operation and maintenance of an arena; considerable knowledge of relevant safety regulations; policies, procedures, together with the ability to introduce and implement new methods as they are developed or regulated. Demonstrated leadership and coaching abilities, together with the ability to provide clear direction to supervised employees and to effectively supervise and coordinate the work of a group of employees; knowledge and experience relating to budgets; ability to prepare and maintain a variety of reports, work records, project estimates and budget estimates; ability to interpret and apply relevant sections of the Collective Agreement
The ability to perform all of the duties outlined in a safe manner following established Facility Procedures; Occupational, Health & Safety Rules; Violence in the Workplace policies; and Worksafe BC Regulations, i.e. WHMIS, T.D.G.; and the physical agility and ability to complete duties requiring physical effort.
