Main Purpose & Function:
Reporting to the Development & Building Services Centre Manager, this position provides a critical customer service experience in a front line role. Directs customers efficiently into the appropriate consolidated counter queue line, provides appointment check-in services, and responds to basic inquiries from customers.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Work is assigned and scheduled by the Manager to support operational needs and provide excellent and expedient customer service. Concierge staff direct customers to the appropriate consolidated counter queue line using queuing system and/or redirect customers to appropriate resources; respond to customer requests for information and forms; operate a computer terminal to view permit information, enter and update customer information, record a request using designated tracking software, or generate a customer invoice; monitor movement of staff and visitors in the reception area and manage appointment check-in, including notifying staff of customers’ arrival; handle incoming and outgoing courier packages; administer the permit pick up area; respond to customer requests for publications and maps; produce invoices and direct customers to cashier for payment; respond to customer requests for copies of building plans and documents in microform and/or electronic format; ensure appropriate consent provided where required; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by related administrative courses.
  • One year of clerical or office work experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with MS suite of tools including Word, Excel and Outlook required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer facing environment required, particularly in a fast paced challenging environment.
  • Experience viewing or entering data into a permit and licensing system or alternate information system preferred.
  • Experience working with a queuing system preferred.
