The City of Coquitlam’s Legal Services department is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Business Services Liaison to join our team of professionals in the Legal and Bylaw Enforcement division.
Reporting to the Manager Bylaws and Animal Control Services, the successful incumbent will be responsible for inspecting various types of business premises for compliance with applicable bylaws and takes enforcement action as necessary. The incumbent will also assist in the development of business licensing processes, analyze a variety of business related data, and prepare related correspondence and reports for senior management. A key component of the job will be liaising with internal departments and external agencies to assist business owners through the regulatory process in an educational and supportive capacity.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to build and maintain strong working relationships and work collaboratively in a team setting; service excellence; effective verbal and written communication skills; work well under pressure; manage competing deadlines; exercise independent judgement. These attributes will be matched with the completion of a diploma program or preferably a university degree with focus in business administration or statistics, and including or supplemented by technical courses related to inspectional investigation and bylaw enforcement work plus related experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference is given to those with 3-5 years’ experience in municipal business licensing environment. There is a requirement the incumbent is able to pass and maintain a Police Information Check (PIC) and possess a valid driver’s license.
