Lewisporte, with a population of 3,409, is a great place to build a new home and raise a family. This serviced RV Park has a 7 km nature trail, campsites and sandy beach, to name only a few of its many attractions. The Town also has several recreation facilities such as a playground, soccer pitch, softball fields, running track and a stadium. It is home to the famous Annual Mussel Bed Soiree Concert featuring popular musical acts from across the province, and the country. It has a world class marina, a deep-water port and related facilities that serve many communities in the region and attract recreation mariners internationally. The Town of Gander with an International Airport is only a 30-minute drive to the east of Lewisporte. Another major regional center, the Town of Grand Falls – Windsor, is a 45-minute drive to the west.
Lewisporte is hiring a Superintendent of Public Works to provide leadership and direction for the Public Works Department. Reporting to the Town Manager, the Superintendent of Public Works is responsible to oversee the provision of a comprehensive suite of services in the areas of infrastructure development, capital asset management, municipal water distribution and wastewater collection, waste management, street and landscape maintenance, infrastructure, parks, playfields, trails, and open space maintenance. The successful candidate will also be responsible for administering all capital projects, liaising with consulting engineers and contractors, and undertaking the project management duties for these capital projects.

The Superintendent of Public Works should have senior management experience with a strategic business perspective who has formulated financial, human resources and public work systems and policies in response to legislative change. They should have managed significant budgets, built strategic relationships with stakeholders, and led a committed team through all aspects of public works planning, analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant university degree, preferably in Civil Engineering, with three (3) to five (5) years of progressive managerial experience, preferably with a public-sector organization. Any equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable to the Town will be considered. The successful candidate must be willing to live within a thirty (30) minute commute of Lewisporte.
