Manager of Forestry Business

Are you committed to quality and professionalism and you are a goal-oriented leader with a proven record for creativity and innovation?

If so, this opportunity may be the right fit for you because we are looking for a detail-oriented individual to manage the financial matters and contract administration of the District’s forestry business and assist in the overall management of Tree Farm Licence #26. 

Mission’s forest area is approximately 10,000 hectares of which 12% is municipally-owned and 88% is provincial crown land.  The Mission Municipal Forest exists for the people of Mission by creating a sustainable balance of various economic, social, scientific and environmental forest values.

You will assist in the management and administration of the Tree Farm Licence including integrating the biological and economic productivity of the Tree Farm Licence while balancing the needs for timber, wildlife habitat, watershed protection, recreation and education.  You will work with local First Nations and a wide range of stakeholders, including the provincial and federal governments, members of the forest products industry, recreation user groups and other interest groups and the public at large. 

With your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you will prepare budgets and monitor expenditures, prepare and report on internal financial statements, including variance analyses.  

You will be a Registered Professional Forester with a post-secondary degree in public or business administration, forest resources management or forestry operations, or a related discipline supplemented by related studies. In terms of experience, you will have a minimum of 8 years related experience at a senior level within the public or private sector as well as with crown land forest tenure management and administration, forest recreation and user group engagement, and consultation/engagement with First Nations.
