Skate Instructor (Contract)
The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is proud of the quality programs offered and the fun atmosphere staff enjoy while working with children, youth, and adults of all abilities.
We are currently seeking energetic and highly-motivated individuals to join our dynamic skate instructor team. Opportunities exist for individuals who have a positive attitude, strong communication skills; excellent organizational abilities and are able to assist in the delivery of high-quality recreation programs and activities offered through the NVRC.
As a contract Skate Instructor, you will be responsible for preparing lesson plans and instructing programs such as Learn to Skate, Learn to Play Hockey and other arena sports; demonstrate skating techniques to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities; and check that equipment is in good working order by making minor adjustments and informing supervisors when repairs are needed.
Must be a proficient skater and have sound knowledge of ice skating skills.Experience planning and teaching structured skating lessons; preparing evaluation sheets and writing progress cards; and setting up equipment needed for lessons.Provide exceptional customer service to participants and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Have a genuine interest in teaching hockey skills to children and adults; an enthusiastic, energetic and positive attitude; and excellent communication skills.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Candidates must have current Standard First Aid, High Five Certification, Skate Instructor course (within 3 months of employment, available through NVRC). Teaching/Instructing experience and NCCP accreditation are considered an asset.
All employees should be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
Based on training and experience, plus 4% in lieu of benefits
