Arena Maintenance Worker

The Regional District of Nanaimo has a casual employment opportunity for the position of Arena Maintenance Worker at Oceanside Place in Parksville.
Reporting to the Superintendent of Arena Services, the successful candidate will assist in the maintenance of all areas of the arena including the arena ice plant, building security, operation and maintenance of the Zamboni, facility set-up and other duties as required.
Qualifications include Grade 12, plus a Refrigeration Operator’s Certificate and Icemaker’s Training Course, with 1 to 3 years prior job related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  The incumbent must possess standard first aid courses, knowledge of WHMIS and safe work procedures, good communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with the public, as well as the ability to work independently and as a team member.
This is a casual union position with varying hours of work including evenings, weekends and school holidays. The rate (2018) of pay for this position is $29.24 to $30.78 per hour plus 9% in lieu of benefits.
