The City of Powell River is looking for a dynamic leader to step into the role of Chief Administrative Officer.

Located on the Upper Sunshine Coast ( ), a 20 minute flight from Vancouver, the City of Powell River is a vibrant progressive community of approximately 13,000 with access to Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Lower Sunshine Coast. Powell River enjoys an extensive variety of year round outdoor recreational activities and festivals calendar, excellent public, private, and French language schools, a multi-purpose recreational complex, golf course, curling rink, hospital, and an active arts community. Working closely with Mayor and Council, you will have overall responsibility for managing the constantly changing and increasingly complex day-to-day affairs of the community.  You will provide the leadership skills required to lead a staff of dedicated team members and play a key role with Council in planning and executing a strategic vision that meets both the current and future needs of the City.

Your background includes related academic credentials and several years in a senior role within municipal administration or other senior non-Municipal managerial position. You fully understand the challenges facing progressive communities and have a track record of demonstrating your capabilities as a senior staff member.  You are a strategic thinker with great human resource and labour relations skills and a communicator with sound political judgement.  You are recognized as a catalyst for positive change within the workplace.
The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated track record of success in a senior level position within a progressive municipality or other organization. The individual will have a reputation for building and leading strong teams and empowering staff in their delivery of a complex portfolio of services. They are talented and effective in long-range strategic planning and are committed to ensuring the City has an engaged and motivated workforce that continually evaluates opportunities to drive efficiency and improvement.
