Job Description: 

Beaumont is Canada’s 5th fastest growing community ideally situated directly south of the City of Edmonton boundary along 50th Street.  Beaumont has rapidly evolved from a small rural community into a vibrant place that over 18,000 residents call home. With over a billion dollars in new investment over the past decade and a focus on economic development, we are seeking a Safety Codes technical specialist with leadership skills, who is customer service focused and adept at attaining compliance and maintaining positive relationships to join our team on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Manager, Current Planning, the Supervisor, Building Services is responsible for the supervision of Beaumont’s Building Services area in accordance with the Alberta Safety Code, the Land Use Bylaw, and our Uniform Quality Management Plan. The Supervisor will be provide leadership, coordination, collaboration, and direction to ensure that services are provided to employees, residents and stakeholders in a timely, accurate, effective, and efficient manner, and will work with the Manager to develop short and long-term strategies for the organization. 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Possess a Group 3 Building Certification to service commercial buildings, larger/tall buildings, specialty buildings and different occupancies, supplemented by additional Certification or by long term experience as a Safety Codes Officer;
  • Journeyman Level Certification in Carpentry or another acceptable construction trade or a Civil/Architectural Technology background;
  • A minimum of 10-12 years relevant building construction experience from plan preparation through to actual construction, with supervisory experience, and at least 3 years as a certified Safety Codes Officer through the Safety Codes Council;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated time management, organizational, and decision making ability;
  • Competency in reviewing plans and coordinating with interested parties;
  • Ability to effectively resolve issues and attain corrective measures;
  • Demonstrated internal and external customer service skills including the ability to build and maintain relationships with industry partners; and
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

This position offers a salary range of $87,235 - $113,822 (starting salary is negotiable within this range based on suitable experience and qualifications), plus a competitive benefits package, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and a 40-hour work week.
