The City of Nelson is currently recruiting for a regular full time Gardener IV/Labourer to assist our team of professionals in the Operations Department.
Job Summary
Gardener IV: Under the supervision of the Public Works & Parks Supervisor, the Gardener IV is responsible for all aspects of park maintenance and will be required from time to time to perform the duties of a Utility Arborist and Landscape Horticulturist.
Labourer: Under the supervision of the Public Works & Parks or Utilities Supervisor and/or direction of the Lead Hand, the Labourer assists with laboring duties associated with municipal infrastructure.

Job Qualifications


  • Grade 12 or GED (General Equivalency Diploma)
  • Valid Class 3 BC Drivers Licence with air endorsement
  • Pool Operators Certificate
  • Irrigation Certificate
  • Certified Utility Arborist
  • 1year recent related experience

Job Qualifications

  • Education/Experience
  • Grade 12 or GED (General Equivalency Diploma)
  • Valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with air brakes

In return, the City of Nelson offers a rate of pay of $32.71/$29.40 (July 2018 rates) and a comprehensive benefits package. The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective.
