Casual, On Call Position
The Plumbing Inspector performs regulatory and inspectional work of a technical nature involving the inspection of new and existing residential plumbing to ensure compliance to municipal standards, codes, bylaws, and applicable Regulations and Acts. This position includes plan review and inspecting plumbing, final stages of completion to ensure compliance with appropriate bylaws, codes standards and regulations. Plan review and inspecting the water service from the property line and within a building for compliance with applicable regulations; approving or rejecting work inspected. Providing technical advice, assistance, interpretation and information to owners and contractors. Preparing reports and writing objection notices.
Qualifications include Level 1 BOABC Certification with 2 years’ experience, plus sound experience as a journeyman plumber in construction of residential buildings or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful applicant will possess thorough knowledge of plumbing, gas fitting and standards and of the related bylaws, and will have the ability to understand and interpret building plans and recognize requirements relating to plumbing and drainage installations. Also required is a B.C. Driver’s License Class 5 is required.
Copies of relevant professional certificates, degrees or tickets will be required at the time of the interview, plus 3 work references.
